The languages that stand out in Muğla
In the economy of Muğla it is tourism, yacht operation and housing sales to foreign buyers that stand out. That profile also shapes which languages and which types of document the translation requests from the province concentrate on.
The prices below are starting per-page rates on economy delivery; the tariff is the same for every language and does not change from one province to another.

Notarisation and apostille in Muğla
If we are handling the certification, you need not visit any office in Muğla at all. If you would still like to know where each step is completed:
Notarisation
The sworn translator's signature is certified by a notary. The fee is governed by the 2026 Notary Fee Tariff, is the same throughout Türkiye, and is a separate item from the agency's charge.
Apostille — administrative documents
For administrative documents such as civil registry extracts, diplomas and criminal record certificates, the apostille is issued by the Governor's Office of Muğla (or by district governor's offices in the districts).
Apostille — judicial documents
For judicial documents such as court judgments, the apostille is issued by the judicial justice commission in centres that have a serious crime court. Not every province has one; where it does not, the matter goes to the centre it is attached to.
Source for the notary fee: Official Gazette 30.12.2025 / 33123 — the official announcement. For the current list of notaries, see the Union of Turkish Notaries.
In Muğla the need for translation comes from the sea. Yacht operations, marina management, blue cruise tourism and the foreign resident population strung out along the coast together produce a mixture of documents seen at this density in no other province. One day it is change-of-flag paperwork, the next a residence permit file.
One consequence of that mixture is how unevenly the work is spread across the year. In the weeks before the season, business documents and staff files arrive at the same time, while in the winter months the weight shifts to inheritance and property matters. This is also what makes Muğla demanding to plan for: the volume is high but predictable, provided the calendar is discussed in advance.
Maritime documents answer to a law of their own
Buying and selling a boat is nothing like an ordinary sale of movable property. The sale contract, the tonnage and registry certificates, the register records, the insurance policies, the survey reports, the crew certificates of competency and the flag state correspondence are all translated separately. Maritime law terminology differs from general legal terminology and its equivalents are settled ones; what is called for here is not invention but knowing the right term.
In charter operations the texts that come to the fore are the contracts, the guest lists, the liability and cancellation terms, the scope of insurance cover and the port correspondence. Having these ready at the start of the season is far easier than wrestling with them once it is under way.
The affairs of foreign nationals living on the coast
The second large heading is the business of foreign nationals living on the Muğla coast all year round or for the season: residence permit renewals, health insurance documents, title deed transactions, powers of attorney, wills and inheritance files. Most of these matters are personal and one-off, yet they have a recurring shape; the same types of document come round again every year.
| Field | Document | Main language |
|---|---|---|
| Yacht sale and purchase | Sale contract, register record, survey report | English |
| Charter operations | Charter agreement, scope of insurance cover | English, German |
| Crew | Certificate of competency, medical report, service record | English |
| Foreign residents | Residence permit paperwork, insurance, power of attorney | German, Dutch, Russian |
| Property | Title deed, promise to sell, will | English, German |
All four languages earn their place
English comes first beyond argument, being the shared language of seafaring. German and Dutch arise from the everyday official business of a population long settled in the coastal districts, and Russian from both home purchases and commercial dealings on the marine tourism side. The rates for all four sit on the same list: the pricing page.
Assets in two countries at once
For foreign nationals long resident on the Muğla coast, the most complicated files are the inheritance files. Where a person’s assets are spread across two countries, two different legal systems come into play at the same time and each wants its own document in its own language. Wills, certificates of inheritance, title deed records and letters from banks and insurers are translated in both directions.
The problem met most often in translating wills is that legal institutions have no exact counterpart from one system to the other. The forms of appointing heirs and executing a will used in some countries do not appear under the same name in Turkish law. In such cases the principle is to keep the expression and explain it, rather than force the institution into a strained equivalent; the final assessment rests with the authority concerned in any event.
The second difficulty in these files is that the documents come from different institutions and on different dates. The same person’s name, address and date of birth have to appear consistently across all of them. That is why we take inheritance files as a whole rather than piece by piece.
From the coast to Ankara: distance is not the problem, the season is
Muğla is a province far from Ankara and courier delivery usually takes two or three working days. But in maritime and residence permit matters the real constraint is not distance, it is the pressure of the season. Marina formalities and permit renewals cluster into particular months, and in that period every official process slows down. The remedy is to move early: a set of documents prepared out of season gives you back a week during it. Since the electronically signed copy is in your hands the same day, courier time is not even decisive in most cases. You can send your documents through here; we have no branch in the province, and the work is completed at the office in Ankara.
This content describes the typical flow; how long a job takes depends on the volume of the document and the delivery speed chosen. We recommend that you follow the practice in force through official announcements.
