Whispered Interpreting (Chuchotage)
Simultaneous interpreting delivered quietly beside one or two listeners; also known as chuchotage.
Whispered interpreting is simultaneous interpreting on a small scale and without equipment. The interpreter sits beside the one or two people who need it and whispers the rendering as the speaker continues, so the flow of the meeting is not broken.
Meetings attended by a single foreign guest, and site visits, are its natural setting. Needing no booth or headsets is an advantage, but the audience must be small and background noise can make delivery difficult.
