Consecutive Interpreting
Spoken interpreting in which the speaker pauses at intervals and the interpreter renders each section afterwards.
In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter renders what has been said into the target language once the speaker has delivered a few sentences and paused, taking notes where needed so that longer passages are conveyed in full. Because speech and interpretation alternate, no special technical equipment is required.
Business meetings, one-to-one discussions, notarial procedures and small-group sessions are its natural setting. The total time is longer because the interpretation comes in between; in return, the exchange is more personal and direct.
