Voice-over and Dubbing Translation
Translating video for voice-over or dubbing so that it fits the rhythm of speech and, where needed, lip movement.
In voice-over translation the text is shaped so a voice artist can read it at a natural pace and, where required, so it matches the lip movements on screen. The translation therefore attends not only to meaning but to how long a line takes to say.
Dubbing puts lip synchronisation to the fore, while in narration-style voice-over the priority is aligning the text with the picture in time. Sentences may be rebuilt to fit the length of a scene.
