Translation Quality Assurance (QA)
The set of processes that secure a translation’s accuracy and consistency through systematic checks; known as QA.
Quality assurance is an approach that inspects a translation through defined steps rather than relying on one person’s attention. Consistency of figures and dates, uniform terminology, missing or surplus passages and conformity of formatting are all checked, by automated tests and by specialist review.
Proofreading and final review are parts of this whole; quality assurance is what keeps the process moving to plan from beginning to end. Errors are caught before delivery, and consistency holds across the project.
