CAT Tools
Computer-assisted translation software that brings translation memory, termbase and quality checks together for the translator.
CAT tools divide a text into manageable units and present the translator with suggestions from the translation memory, approved terms from the termbase and automatic consistency checks on a single screen. The translating is still done by a person; the tool supports consistency and throughput.
These programs are not machine translation: they do not translate the text for you, they organise the translator’s work and make earlier work available. On long, repetitive projects they make terminological consistency markedly easier to hold.
On larger projects, çeviri.tr uses CAT tools deliberately, for quality and consistency alike.
