Source Language

The language a translation is made from — the language the original text is written in.

The source language is where the process begins: the document to be translated is written in it. The meaning, register and terminology of the text are read and analysed in this language before being carried into the target language.

Defining a translation job requires naming source and target together, because the same document translated in the opposite direction becomes a different piece of work. How legible and complete the source text is has a direct bearing on the accuracy of the translation.

Before work begins, çeviri.tr establishes the source language and the nature of the document so the direction is set correctly.
