Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI)
Interpreting delivered over an online connection without the interpreter being physically present; known as RSI.
In remote interpreting the interpreter delivers the rendering over an internet connection without being in the same room as the participants. Depending on the platform this can run simultaneously or consecutively, with participants listening on their own devices.
Online conferences, meetings across multiple locations and situations where travel is difficult are where the method comes into its own. A stable connection, good audio and a suitable platform are critical to delivering it soundly.
