Translation with a Declaration
A translation in which the translator undertakes in a written statement that it is faithful to the original and complete.
Here a signed declaration is appended to the end of the text, stating that the translation has been made faithfully to the source. This statement shows that the translator takes responsibility for the accuracy of the work, and some institutions look for it either in place of certification or alongside it.
When the declaration is supported by a sworn translator’s stamp and signature, the official weight of the translation increases. Whether the declaration alone is sufficient depends entirely on the practice of the authority receiving the document.
