The languages that stand out in Çanakkale
In the economy of Çanakkale it is agriculture, ceramics and heritage tourism that stand out. That profile also shapes which languages and which types of document the translation requests from the province concentrate on.
The prices below are starting per-page rates on economy delivery; the tariff is the same for every language and does not change from one province to another.

Notarisation and apostille in Çanakkale
If we are handling the certification, you need not visit any office in Çanakkale at all. If you would still like to know where each step is completed:
Notarisation
The sworn translator's signature is certified by a notary. The fee is governed by the 2026 Notary Fee Tariff, is the same throughout Türkiye, and is a separate item from the agency's charge.
Apostille — administrative documents
For administrative documents such as civil registry extracts, diplomas and criminal record certificates, the apostille is issued by the Governor's Office of Çanakkale (or by district governor's offices in the districts).
Apostille — judicial documents
For judicial documents such as court judgments, the apostille is issued by the judicial justice commission in centres that have a serious crime court. Not every province has one; where it does not, the matter goes to the centre it is attached to.
Source for the notary fee: Official Gazette 30.12.2025 / 33123 — the official announcement. For the current list of notaries, see the Union of Turkish Notaries.
What gives translation demand from Çanakkale its character is not industry but history and academia. Excavation sites, commemoration programmes, international research projects and the shipping traffic that runs along both shores of the strait feed the province’s need for translation from four different directions. It is a combination found in very few provinces in Türkiye.
What that combination means for translation is that one specialism will not be enough. Correspondence about an excavation permit, a ferry-route contract and a ceramics export file can all arrive within the same month. All three carry different terminology, a different format and a different expectation of approval. That is what makes Çanakkale interesting: an unusually wide range of subjects within a small volume of demand.
Academic collaborations and research correspondence
A research project with international partners produces a great deal more than publications: collaboration protocols, budget reports, permit and licence correspondence, ethics committee decisions, letters of invitation to researchers. In translating these documents the measure is not fluency but the correct rendering of legal and administrative terms. A translation that blurs the difference between the “lead institution” and a “partner institution” in a protocol will create arguments about copyright and liability at a later stage.
There is a separate set of documents for academics going abroad and for visiting researchers arriving here: letters confirming an academic title, academic CVs, lists of courses and publications, and recognition application files.
Why Greek is called for in Çanakkale
Demand for Greek here comes out of geography. Sea crossings in both directions in the northern Aegean, connections to the islands, fishing and shared shipping lanes give rise to a demand that runs from operating certificates to ships’ papers and from commercial contracts to personal records. German and English come to the fore in commemoration tourism, agricultural exports and the ceramics sector’s correspondence with European buyers. The tariff by language is on the pricing page.
| Field | Text translated | Critical point |
|---|---|---|
| Research project | Collaboration protocol, ethics committee decision | Definition of the parties and their responsibilities |
| Academic mobility | CV, course list, recognition file | Renderings of titles and course names |
| Commemoration and cultural tourism | Programme text, invitations and official correspondence | Consistency of institution names |
| Maritime and agricultural trade | Contract, product certificate, ship’s papers | Established terms of the sector |
Peaks that follow the season
Demand from Çanakkale is not spread evenly across the year. In the periods when commemoration programmes and the excavation season are at their height, invitation correspondence and permit documents are squeezed into the same few weeks. You have the advantage of knowing those periods in advance: having the recurring documents prepared before the season opens removes both the waiting and the need for urgent delivery.
Not every academic translation is a sworn translation
Let us set out plainly a confusion we often meet in enquiries from Çanakkale: rendering an article or a thesis abstract into another language is not the same job as the sworn translation of a diploma. Sworn translation is a matter of producing the counterpart of an official document and signing beneath it; translating an academic text is a matter of carrying the meaning and the register across. The two differ in how they are priced and in how they are delivered.
In practice that distinction makes things easier for you. An article to be sent to a journal has no need of sworn translation, whereas an educational document to be submitted to an institution abroad does. Ending up on the wrong side of the line means either an unnecessary approval cost or an incomplete file. We have set out which service is needed in which situation on the services page.
In project correspondence there is a third category: official letters and protocols between institutions. Even where these call for no sworn translation, they do make it essential that the names of institutions, the titles and the dates be carried across consistently. The same institution appearing in two documents under two different forms of its name is the error most often corrected on projects with many partners.
A distant province, a short process
Our office is in Ankara; we have no representation in Çanakkale, and given the distance that is the first question that comes to mind. The answer is this: in the great majority of academic and administrative correspondence a wet-signed original is not needed at all, and an electronically signed copy is accepted. Where a wet signature is required, it sets off by courier. If you are not sure which of the two your document falls under, send us the file and we will decide together in the light of what the institution expects.
The account below is a general framework; what changes from province to province is not the tariff but only the logistics of delivery. It would be as well to check the conditions in force against an official source.
