What Factors Affect the Price of a Sworn Translation?
The fee for a sworn translation cannot be summed up in a single figure; factors such as the language pair, the specialist field, urgency and format shape the price.
How much a sworn translation will cost is one of the questions we are asked most often, and it is not one that can be answered with a single figure. The price is made up of several different factors, depending on the nature of the job.
The language pair and the specialist field set the price
Translation in widely used languages and translation in languages that are worked with less often call for different amounts of effort, and that difference is reflected in the price. The specialist field of the document matters just as much: a legal, medical or technical text demands greater care in terminology and accuracy, so it is assessed differently from a standard document. Volume in translation is measured on the basis that one page equals 1,000 characters; this gives everyone a common reference point for working out the size of a job.
Urgency and format are taken into account as well
How urgent the job is forms another factor affecting the price: delivery at short notice requires priority in the workflow, so it is assessed separately. The format of the document also adds to the labour cost, in elements such as tables, stamps and layout work (DTP). A plain text and a document with a complex layout are not treated as equivalent.
This is why a quotation only becomes definite once the document has been seen. Assessing the language, field, urgency and format of the document together is the soundest route to a realistic quotation. At our Ankara Kızılay office we examine your document and give you a transparent assessment based on these factors.
